![]() About the Artist, Susan de Waardt-RuiterSusan de Waardt-Ruiter is a Dutch artist that we have had the wonderful fortune to find. For many years her passion has been drawing and painting. Since 1992, you will find her nearly daily in her studio where her creativity runs free. She is self-taught and has developed her own style in different areas from single, specific lessons offered at the University or from workshops offered by a number of Rotterdam artists. After experimenting with a number of different techniques and subjects, she found her preference for making colorful, humorous acrylic paintings. Her work is both coarsely drawn but with some detail. She gets her new ideas and inspiration from her direct surroundings. The results are modern, realistic paintings with a flirtatious feel. The beautiful ladies with their striking figures are inspired. Combined with an animal or cultural setting, they are shown as cheerful, independent and powerful women. Her compositions bring a constant tension between these themes, challenging the norm and the opinions of critics. Overall, her work presents relaxed and colorful surroundings portraying a quite cheerful whole. chunkEbusiness is delighted to share the treasure of Susan's art with you by making it available to you in a variety of unframed prints. |
